Changing Weather

I think we have all seen the coverage of the devastation from the recent hurricanes in the southeast, Helene and Milton. The tragic and sudden loss of everything is only dwarfed by the loss of life that took place in the states that were impacted by the storms. However, the outpouring of support and community that has flowed to those places is in credible to watch and will help, in time, sooth some of the hurt and loss that has taken place. What has been reported is that the loss of life would have been much worse but for the diligent preparation by the governments of the states, cities, and towns who were directly affected. The tedious pouring over of data by the National Weather Service and other scientific and weather related organizations gave leaders the information they needed to make and execute plans for what they all knew was coming. In the aftermath, people from government agencies, churches, non-profits, business organizations, and even just good neighbors, have all found ways to put together something to support those who are now reeling from the drastic changes in their daily existence.

The truth is the changes we are seeing in the intensity and locations of severe life altering weather is no different from everything else in our lives; Changing in ways that are expected and known to us. So knowing this, and as we move through life meticulously planning for our careers, our schedules, our activities, our home lives, or even finding opportunities to spend time with friends and family, why do we shy away from planning for the things that we know are in front of us, or for the people who we know will benefit most from our diligence. Estate planning allows you to plan and prepare provisions for the storms that you know will come. Planning does not mean they instantaneously show up, but it does mean that you and your loved ones are ready to face them without fear.
